Karisa's music has been evolving into a more guitar based sound since her debut in 2020. From her initial use of 80's inspired solos for her ‘Endless Summer’ EP and ‘Call My Name’ to the electronically-processed guitar riff in 'Sin City', Karisa's returning to the sounds she grew up with.
Her upcoming release ‘Electric Poison’ has been a long time in the making. The song was initially given a live sneak peak in 2025 at Paradise Hotline, but the initial recording has been completely re-vamped since then.
Karisa changed how the main vocals were sung, from a softer more laid back approach to an edgier, more projected sound inspired by 1980's vocalists. The song has evolved from purely an alternative-pop sound to now having more of a retro-rock influence. Karisa sighted inspiration from Def Leppard, and their use of numerous layered guitars.
Electric Poison features numerous licks, riffs and a guitar solo; this song is a symbol for what is to come in Karisa's sound.
